Stevie Sparshott started homebrewing 3 years ago with basic stock pots, a sieve, thermometers, hydrometers and small batch All Grain Beer Starter and bottling kits. All from his kitchen on Lamlash Bay, Isle of Arran. Loved the aromas in the kitchen on brew day.
He has always taken his inspiration from a Belgian bar-owner and master brewer.
During 2018/2019 he refined his recipes and took the results to Brugge for critique by brewers, bar-owners and beer journalists in the city. Having received encouraging, constructive criticism, he decided to take his venture to the next level.
To this end, he left the kitchen in the spring of 2020 into a purpose built Shed, fully fitted out to his own specifications. Now he has 30 Litre and 50 Litre Brewing Machines, Double 30 Litre GRP fermenters and two 30 Litre Stainless Steel conical fermenters. For small split batches requiring differing hops or yeast, he has two baby 10 Litre GRP fermenters.
His Brewing style is unashamedly Belgian with a few Scottish stouts and ales. Handcrafted with the finest ingredients and with great attention to detail. Once brewed, beer is further conditioned in the bottle, giving a dynamic, breathy burst when the cap is first popped. And so Seagate Brewery is born!
Thanks to all family, friends and brewing colleagues for all their help and support to get us here. Especially the Belgians.
