The Glasgow Tearoom
In 1897, Miss Kate Cranston, an eccentric middle-aged Glasgow business woman opened her Buchanan Street tearooms. Her ‘new art’ interior décor, by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, plus her high catering standards, created a legend. For the next 20 years the partnership flourished, inventing the Glasgow tearoom and creating a top visitor attraction.
